Two Reasons To Celebrate May 24th

May 24, 2019 is a special day for us at DIVE and The Darlington House. On this date in 1973, Bruce Springsteen began the first of three performances in the upstairs dinning room bay window. Playing with his band, Bruce performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings to a full house and with someone apparently recording at least 4 of his songs from that night. This was only 5 months after the release of Greetings from Asbury Park, on January 5th, 1973, which received positive critical reviews and would be just one of the reasons that there was a winding line out the front door on the nights of his performance.

Greetings From Asbury Park rests proudly at our upstairs bar, while Bruce Springsteen’s contract to play three nights for $750 sits at our downstairs bar on display.

The other reason to celebrate May 24th is that Bob Dylan turns 78 years old. To mark both occasions, DIVE, Darlington House’s basement rock bar, will celebrate with book release parties for Bob Dylan: NYC 1961-1964, photography by Ted Russell and for Bruce Springsteen: From Asbury Park, to Born To Run, to Born In The USA, celebrating David Gahr’s photographs of Bruce Springsteen.

Published by Rizzoli and authored by Chris Murray and the respective photographers, these books provide an inside look at the lives of these two amazing artists.

Chris Murray will be at DIVE to sign purchased copies, offer wisdom and of course, join us in a toast or two.

We invite you to join us on May 24th for the celebration from 6pm-9pm and to appreciate original performances from 7-10pm as well as our featured artist, Pedro Abel Viana at 10pm.
